As you look at your home from the outside what materials do you see that the builders have used? Where have they needed wood, glass, stone, slate, or metal?

Now let us think of your yard. Tell about the different parts that make up the yard.

What great numbers of workmen were needed before a home like yours could be built! Who built the foundation? Who procured the wood and fastened it together? Who made the nails and screws? Who made the glass? Who made the windows and doors? Who installed the electrical wires and plumbing?

Can you think how the bare lot looked before your home was built? How were so many materials brought here?

Notebook Work: Draw your backyard. You might add the following parts - grass/snow, trees, bushes, sidewalks, driveways, flowers, swing set, sandbox, and shed.
